RAPYD PROTOTYPING
Rapid prototyping transforms your 2-dimensional pictures into a solid,
concrete object you can touch with your hand. The RP (Rapid
Prototyping) techniques are a set of systems which, irrespective of
an object's construction complexity, reproduce it with additive
techniques, starting from the object's specific mathematical
definition on 3-dimensional CAD, and using rapid, flexible and highly
automated processes. This brief definition alone makes it clear which
are the strong points of these techniques: the possibility of
producing in a very short time (from a few hours to a few days), a
prototype or small sample sets, in a wide range of materials,
irrespective of shape
and geometric complications.
Rapid
Prototyping
means a set of processes which create a model and components by
addition of material layer by layer starting from a 3-dimensional
mathematical model. The RP systems produce successive layers of
material consisting time by time of liquids, powders, wires or
laminates. Layer over layer, these machines rebuild the object which
is the initial mathematical model.
